Age today, age on a past or future date, age difference between two people, or age in days, weeks, or months only. All four live in the same box. Leave the “age as of” date on today for the usual answer, or set it to another date to find your age on that day.
The birthday that breaks the maths
Age is the time between a date of birth and today, counted in full calendar years first, then leftover months, then leftover days. Age = Today minus Date of birth, expressed as full years plus full months plus remaining days. Total days lived is the plain day count between the two dates.
Leap years are handled automatically. Someone born on 29 February turns a year older on 28 February in non-leap years for most everyday purposes, and the calculator counts the real calendar days either way.
Take someone born on Friday, 15 June 1990. On Thursday, 15 October 2026, 15 June 1990 to 15 June 2026 is exactly 36 years, 15 June 2026 to 15 October 2026 is 4 months, and 0 days remain since the day of the month matches. Result: 36 years, 4 months, 0 days old. Total days lived: 13,271 days. Next birthday: 15 June 2027, which is 243 days away.
Age difference works the same way. Between 15 June 1990 and 2 November 1994 there are 4 years, 4 months, and 18 days, or 1,601 days in total. Count the full years to 15 June 1994 (4 years), the full months to 15 October 1994 (4 months), then the days to 2 November (18 days).
Note the difference from the Days Between Dates Calculator: that tool counts the gap between any two dates you pick, a holiday, a deadline, a project. This page answers “how old am I” from a birthdate to today (or any date), and its age-difference mode compares two birthdays.
Where the answer can mislead
Years, months, days is the headline number, the one you would give when someone asks your age. Total days is handy for milestones (“10,000 days old”) and for forms that ask for age in days. Next birthday helps with planning. If two dates are close together, the months-and-days breakdown can look odd at first. 31 January to 1 March is 1 month and 1 day in some conventions, because calendar months are uneven. The day count is always exact.
Three cautions. Dates before 1900 can behave oddly in some browsers, though results are still based on the standard calendar. “Legal age” rules differ by country and purpose. This calculator gives your calendar age, not a legal opinion. And for babies, age in months or weeks is usually more useful than years.
Questions
How old am I today?
Enter your date of birth above. The calculator compares it with today’s date and shows your age in years, months, and days, plus your total days lived.
Does the calculator handle leap years?
Yes. It counts real calendar days, so leap days (29 February) are included automatically. Someone born on 29 February has a birthday every four years on the calendar, and the day count stays exact in between.
How do I find the age difference between two people?
Use Age Difference mode and enter both dates of birth. You get the gap in years, months, and days, plus the total days between them.
Is my birthday itself counted in my age?
On your birthday, you turn a year older that day, so the calculator shows the new age from that date onward. The total day count runs from your date of birth to the chosen date.
If you need a different count
Counting a gap between two dates that are not birthdays? That is the Days Between Dates Calculator. Adding days to a date is the Date Calculator, and hours between two times belong to the Time Duration Calculator. The BMI Calculator sits nearby too.
